Earl Tawny Rhoads
Created to create…Colossians 3:23-24 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
My hope is to make this world a better place one brush stroke at a time.
Tawny has been making letters dance since 2014.
Born and raised in the beautiful Philippines, I’ve always carried a deep love for life, creativity, and meaningful connection. Art has been part of my story for as long as I can remember, but in 2014, I discovered calligraphy — and everything changed. What started as practice pages and Instagram posts soon opened doors to working with brands and teaching workshops, serving weddings through invitation suites, envelope addressing, and signage.
In 2017, I moved to the United States to pursue my American dream. While I’m incredibly grateful for my profession as a clinical laboratory scientist in the medical field, my creative calling never left my heart.
I had a COVID wedding in 2021, and like a true DIY bride, I designed my own invitations, hand-lettered the place cards, and even braved creating all of the wedding bouquets myself.
In 2022, newly pregnant and living in Seattle as a traveling healthcare professional, I felt the nudge to take a leap of faith. I invested in a business coach. I learned to build this website, pitched myself out there, and shared my passion with the world, trusting God with the outcome.
Today, I am the proud owner and artist behind The Tawny Canvas, a passion project rooted in faith, excellence, and intention. My biggest supporter is my husband, Brent, and my absolute greatest joy is being mama to our sweet babies, Elijah and Elise.
My goal is simple: to serve you wholeheartedly and steward the creative gift God has entrusted to me, giving all the glory back to Him. Through calligraphy, watercolor, and engraving, I hope to elevate your most meaningful moments.
Beyond the art, I’m a lover of get togethers with boisterous laughter, dancing, bread (I like to bake when I have time), boba tea, poke bowls, indoor plants, and dreaming up our next family adventure with credit card points!
I believe we are all planted with purpose, and mine is to create. It would be such an honor to take your ideas and grow something beautiful together.
Thank you for reading and being here. I’m so glad you found me.
